We’ve been asked what one needs to do to enter the ‘Double Whammy Slammy’ so here are a few details to help. The Double Whammy Slammy is the end of fest party starting with a Flash Fiction Slam. Names will be taken on entry. Ditto with the Poetry Slam MC’d by Fergus McGonigal, we’ll take your names on entry.
To enter the Flash Fiction slam: prepare three flashes of no more than 300 words. Entrants will read their first flash and the audience will vote for their favourites, those favourites will go through to the next round, again votes will be cast, and finally the two with the most votes will go on to the final.
Poetry Slam entrants should prepare three poems of no more than three minutes in length. There are three rounds: the five winners of the first-round heats will go through to the the semi-final, and the two highest scoring semi-finalists will go through to the final. The Worcester Litfest Slam Champ wins more than just the usual ‘slam winner kudos’: they receive a trophy and an invitation to headline at at the LitFest’s monthly spoken word event, SpeakEasy.
This will be a fantastic night and all will be welcome – the more in the audience to vote, the better.
Let’s have FUN! The Flash Fiction Slam will start at 18:30 We anticipate that the Poetry Slam will start at 19:30
I am up for both! When do you want the entries in or is that on the day?
Bring your flashes and / or poems with you to perform at the Double Whammy Slammy 🙂
