Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2020-2021

Traditionally the Poet Laureate competition opens the launch of the Worcestershire LitFest & Fringe and then 5 days later the New Poet Laureate is presented with the actual engraved award at the SpeakEasy Festival Special.

WLF are pleased to announce, earlier this month we managed a socially distanced hand over of the Worcestershire Poet Laureate trophy to Leena Batchelor.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Charley Barnes for her wonderful year as Worcestershire Poet Laureate. Charley worked extremely hard raising the profile of Poetry across the county.

Look out for more Poetry News from Leena Batchelor as we approach National Poetry Day.

A Second Chance to Vote

A regular monthly event of The Worcestershire Literary Festival, Parole Parlate was a celebration of poetry and prose. With the arrival of the new Worcestershire LitFest & Fringe, Parole Parlate is to be re-named and given a general facelift.  It will now take place on the second Thursday of the month at The Old Rectifying House, Worcester at 7.30.p.m. The event will encourage new and emerging talent in a relaxed and supportive environment.  All will be welcome, old friends and those who may not have performed in Worcester before. We also intend to have “guest” poets and story-tellers for everyone’s enjoyment.  A very special announcement on Monday will, I am sure, cement this event as a “must do” in your diaries, so please do continue to follow us. AND don’t forget to vote!

Go on, vote. You know you want to 🙂

This poll is open until midday Monday 30 September.
